Group Portraits
A group portrait is one of the most satisfying portraits to view and one of the most difficult to paint. In order for a group portrait to work the artist most come up with a good composition that arranges the figures well, but also takes into account their personalities and relationships to one another. When it is done well you have a portrait where the whole is greater than its individual parts. The relationship between a mother and child, father and son, and sisters and brothers is timeless. With the nuances of a group portrait being so important to the success of the painting, I spend an extra amount of time working out the design of the painting. It is a process that the client is involved in throughout right to the finish when the final touches are put on to bring the whole piece together. |
