Although my first love is portraiture and figurative work I consider myself a painter first. I admire the great painters of the past who had the skill to do it all. If light fell on it, they could paint it. That is my goal too. All I know about color I learned by observing directly from life. Painting from life has many benefits for a painter. It trains your eye, makes you work with a quick reflex as things change, and keeps you connected to the world. While painting, especially outdoors, I have a chance to reflect on what I am bearing witness too and often write it down afterwards. In the following gallery you will see the images and read my thoughts about them. I hope you enjoy being part of my painting experience. |
