In October of 2008 I opened the Ronald Bayens School of Realist Art. It consists of a drawing studio and a teaching studio located across the hall from my personal studio in Greystone Mansion on Magnolia Avenue in Auburn, Alabama.

The method of teaching that I do at the school is based on the Nineteenth century atelier method. This is a method of teaching drawing and painting using strong academic principles and classical painting techniques. Each student is taught individually according to their own skill levels. The class sizes are small, ten per class.

Drawing is taught by copying master drawings and by working from antique casts and live models. Painting is taught through a series of exercises on technique covering tonality, color and paint applications. Students will work on studies of old master paintings as well their own compositions.

I will guide each student through their studies by way of demonstrations, guidance, and examples of my own work as it progresses in my studio.

Impressionism and landscape painting will also be taught, with some classes working on site outdoors. For a full description of courses, fees and times please download the brochure.

Workshops will also be available from time to time, please sign up for the newsletter and you will be sent information.
